I know that with the transition to spring happening, many of you out there are lusting after a fresh dewy face that mimics the season, and for some this is absolutely great and looks amazing. But, I just can't quite get my head around the logistics of it, and I think that photographs on social media might just be the biggest factor in fuelling my distaste.
My skin is combination skin, only getting oily around the t-zone the same as many others, and in this sense I've been lucky. Yet regardless of my skin type, I've always powdered my whole face. It's probably infact one of the first habits that I picked up when I started using makeup, and this is probably why I feel so strongly about it being a vital part of a makeup routine.
There is nothing worse than seeing a beautiful girl, with a really amazing face of makeup, produced skillfully to enhance all of her best features, looking absolutely stunning (sorry for the long sentence)...with a face so shiny is looks like she's sweating a treat.
This is personal opinion obviously, as many people do like the moisture in their foundation to be picked up on and reflect light, and I'm completely for the each to their own deal, as personal preference is the most important aspect of feeling great in your own skin. However, I just can't help but feel that these bases give the impression that you've just been rained on, are wearing tanning oil, or perhaps are just perspiring that little too much? Especially when they are projected through the lense of a camera!
I know that when contouring with cream products, a slightly moist foundation can make life that much easier for blending, but lets be honest, who has 2/3 different coloured powders just to set all of the different tones of this process?! I know that I don't because I just can't afford it, although there are probably some crackin' budget buys out there to help.
It may be a controversial subject, but I'm finding it very difficult to get onboard with products such as Nars Sheer Glow foundation, and other formulas that leave that slight gleam as you move your face. Also with highlighters that leave that bit too much overstated shimmer so that you look like a shiny glitterball. It could just be me being a bitch and not embracing the new season we're about to have the pleasure of getting, but for now at least I'm going to stick to my fully powdered and wonderfully matte base.
Do any of you agree or disagree?
I'm willing to be persuaded if there's a strong case put against it!

Totally get where you're coming from. I've recently changed foundation and the oily look it gives me after a while of wearing it drives me crazy. And a lot of my birthday photos this year that were taken pre-powder instantly got deleted..

Photo finishes look so much better when you're lovely and matte with the colours popping out more! Powder really does make that much difference! :)
