A Fresh Face with a Hint of Liner

It may be pretty obvious from my last few posts, but at the moment I am having a bit of an obsession with my 'face base'. However this doesn't JUST mean my fabulous MAC goodies (which you can read all about here), but instead everything face-related, starting right from the Lush Cosmetics toner and moisturiser, right down to the powder, highlight, blush and finish.

As I'm having such a focus right now, with my posts almost making up a face-series, I thought it would be a good idea to do a really simple yet effective makeup look to really emphasise just how much of a difference having a radiant face can make.

All in all the look is pretty natural, albeit the black winged liner.

To start with, I've found that having a well-moisturised face can help, although admittedly I rarely pay that much attention to this step before I start my makeup routine. It's more of a 'when I remember, I'll do it' scenario (but you can read about the Lush Products I use here).

I used Benefit's the POREfessional primer to get smooth and even skin all over my face, before applying MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NW10 with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, which is just a beauty blender. I then dotted MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer in NW15 under my eyes, on any blemishes, and also put a little on my cheeks too for a fuller coverage to try and combat my rosiness! Which I also blended in with the Miracle Complexion Sponge.

I set all of the above with MAC Prep + Prime Pressed Transparent Finishing Powder, which is also available for the same price as a loose powder if that's what you prefer, and then moved onto a bit of a basic attempt at contouring. Using my sacred Benefit Hoola Bronzer, I applied a hint of colour to my cheeks, working it in to make sure it was all blended. Then I also added some to my forehead, putting it around the edges and working it in slightly on the side. I also blended a little bit under the neck for a natural looking shadow, and finally the sides of my nose to give a narrower and more defined finish.

For highlight, I used the Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light, gently dabbing the powder along my cheekbones and also down my nose and on my cupids bow to catch the light. I have a love/hate relationship with highlighters, but this one is just the right amount of shimmer, although I'm not really a fan of the brown contour powder in the kit as it's quite harsh. I finished this off with MUA Blusher in Bon Bon, which is really pigmented so I tend to use the smallest of amounts.

For my eyebrows I used the darkest shade in the MUA Pro-Brow Kit in Fair-Mid, which I have to say has taken some getting used to. But I apply it with my own brush rather than the one provided as generally...its pretty darn rubbish. Eyes-wise I curl my lashes to the max, which is probably really terrible, but with this process I used Maybelline The Colossal Waterproof Mascara, layering it up, and then winged eyeliner using Makeup Revolution Waterproof Liquid Liner.

For a natural finishing touch I swiped my lips with Nivea Lips Fruity Shine in Peach, which I received in an amazing giveaway from Petals of Perfection (go and check out her lovely blog!).

[I promise you that I do not have an odd bogey, it's just my septum bar peeking out!]

A slightly long-winded post about my face, but I just love this look so much for everyday, and just thought it was a good idea to share! Although it seems like a lot of steps, I promise you it can be achieved super quick with similar products, and I got so many lovely compliments from my gal pals so it's definitely a winner all round.

Hope you've had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the post!
And thankyou to all of you who follow me, I've reached the amazing milestone of over 200 followers now and I really appreciate it so much!
