First (Pale) Face on the Blog ¦ Alice Phillips

As someone who is scared of the whole 'vlog' scene and putting myself out there on the internet, I've been a bit apprehensive towards using my face online and putting it in my blog posts. However it occurred to me yesterday that no matter how many times you rant and rave about products online, swatches can only show you what something looks like to a certain extent.

As a result of this I thought I would show you the finished result of my make up yesterday along with what I used - it's nothing particularly special, but I think it gives all of you a better idea of my colouring and the kind of things I use (this is something I find particularly helpful when looking at other blogs).

Now this isn't by any means a make-up tutorial because I really have no technique, but really just a list of what I use. I'm very very fair-skinned as you can tell (I've even been referred to as ghostly before, and been known to glow in the dark!), and therefore I have to be quite reserved in the areas of bronzers, nude lipsticks and eye make-up, as I could end up looking orange, washed out, or even slightly gothic!

I start off using my Benefit POREfessional primer to get a good base, which I've raved about before, and then use Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain. For some reason I could only find this shade online in Superdrug? So that's the link I've provided.

One thing that I couldn't live without is my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 001 Transparent, which I forgot to picture. I hate to say it, but I'm definitely not a fan of the dewy/shiny look, however natural it may be. So after my foundation I use this powder over my whole face rather than just 'problem areas' to give me a nice matte base.

As someone who has fairly short, straight and unimpressive eyelashes, I tend to do a few layers of mascara at intervals during the rest of my face, curling my eyelashes each time and then letting them dry before another layer. I know this is probably terrible for you, but it's a routine that definitely works for me, and I won't be stopping it anytime soon! (Mascara used is Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof Mascara)

For the rest of my face, it's always gunna be Benefit's Hoola Bronzer, and also their Sugarbomb Blush to add some colour. Both super spenny for me, but as they were essentially gifts and last FOREVER I will still always rave about them. Also, I use Benefit's Brow Zings Light, which I have in their Smokin' Eyes Set just to add a little something to my brows.

As for my lips? Well, as you can see I've gone for a fair bit of colour, using Topshop's lip liner in Deception to line my lips and bring the colour in a bit, with Benefit's Hydra-Smooth Lip Color in 'Dare Me' to fill in the middle and create a nice gradient effect. Unfortunately I couldn't find the liner online, so now I'm panicking that it's being discontinued (?!), but I'm sure it's still in stores. It's my fave go-to liner for all purple and red lip shades that I wear and its fab.

So a kind of different post for me today as it involved my face, but I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading, and don't forget to let me know if you have any must have beauty items for the palest of people that I should try!

Love Alice x

    1. The rimmel shade I have is practically white! But I can only find it in certain shops and online stores, so I'm assuming that it's not very common. L'Oreal's Infallible foundation in porcelain is a similar shade though so that might be worth a try? It smells gorgeous too!

But thanks very much, I appreciate it! I'll definitely give your blog a look!
