Like pretty much every beauty blogger out there, I've got a bit of an obsession with trying to find the best way to easily contour my face without spending megabucks on fancy palettes and tools. Not that I really know how of course, but I just can't resist watching youtube tutorials whilst trying to copy every step that they're doing.
[Makeup Revolution Eye Primer, BeautyUK Ultimate Contour Palette]
One of the products that I have been trying to get my hands on for ages and have completely failed at until now is the BeautyUK Ultimate Contour Palette. At £4.99 it's one of those absolute steals that you have to try even if it turns out just to be a bit rubbish. It's been mentioned on youtube as a great dupe by one of the pixiwoo gals (video here), and probably as a consequence of this is usually sold out absolutely everywhere.
BUT, I finally managed to get my hands on one yesterday after going in both of the Superdrug stores in Cardiff, and was itching to give it a go as soon as I got home. After a quick practice last night, I applied it again today and took a few pictures to show you what it looks like!
The product itself is made up of three cream colours - one highlight, one bronze and one contour - which basically amounts to a very pale colour, a warm brown and a cool toned brown. I was a bit worried that the highlight wouldn't be pale enough for me but it seemed alright. To get the best blend, with it you probably need a duo-fibre brush, but I just used my beauty blender to attempt in the absence of one of these.
Following a youtube video, I painted the right colour lines on the right areas to try and narrow certain parts and make others pop, tapping in the highlighter and then blending the contour. I didn't actually use the bronze colour, but I think it'll be really nice if the warm weather continues!
I set it with my MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder, with a little Benefit Hoola on the bits that I'd contoured to keep the colour strong. I think that it actually worked really well? But it really was a whole lot of makeup to put on, and although the pictures don't really do it justice, it's definitely a heavy-duty makeup finish that it perfect for going out - not for everyday.
For these pictures I actually used my MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15 as a highlight, as even though it's really heavy duty normally, it was still lighter and somewhat easier to blend than the highlight in the palette.
For the rest of my face, I carried on with the usual products (which can be seen here), but using my new Stay Don't Stray Eyeshadow Primer from Makeup Revolution (bit of a play on the Benefit version, no?) and finishing with some neutral browns from my Sleek Natural Eyeshadow Palette. I also lined my lips with Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob, with Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink.
All in all for £4.99 you just can't go wrong. If you want to try out a cream contour to do it like Kimmy K then definitely snatch this up if it's in stock in your local store. It may be a bit difficult to get your head around, but it can work really well and I'm sure it would make an amazing look for a night out!
Have any of you tried it?

I tend to find powders a lot easier to work with, but it's so much fun to have a play. Definitely try it out - it's something new that looks so different and defined!

Thankyou :)
DeleteIt was a bit hit and miss to get my head around, but definitely a lot of fun playing around. It's 100% worth the £5 if you come across it!
