Lush Cardiff Bloggers Event, Monday 2nd March

Being the lucky bugger that I have been recently what with it being birthday season and all, I was incredibly fortunate to get an invite (thanks to my fave gal pals) to the Lush Cardiff bloggers event. It's the first event I've ever been to, and without any idea of what to expect I was pretty nervy to say the least, but still mega excited to find out what was in store.

I was very early as I had the wrong time (typical me, but better early than late!), but managed to make pals with Ellie from Tattoos and Tantrums, who thankfully had been to a few of these shindigs before, and gave me a heads up on all of the nice things that were about to happen. It definitely calmed my nerves a little!

When we walked in, there was lovely treats waiting for us - chocolate eggs, mini chocolate cornflake nests, carrots to combat the choc, and some lovely glasses of fruity, non-alcoholic fizzy filled with berries. So yummy!

It was really informal, with loads of staff, so we all kind of branched off in bundles or pairs with one of the girls who works there, which is something that I personally found so much better than coming into Lush throughout the day, as although it's always a good experience, you just receive so much special one on one guidance through the products, and also get to know so much more about each one!

Probably the main reason for holding the bloggers event at the beginning of March is due to the current new ranges that they have out - Mothers Day and Easter. Now in the past, I've managed to miss out on all of the seasonal goodies, narrowly missing Christmas and only just grabbing a few of the Valentines Treats, but this time I was so ready for them, and they really do have some amazing products.

Lush Cardiff Golden Egg Bath Bomb

Possibly my favourite product out of both of the ranges was the Golden Egg Bath Bomb, which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it being demonstrated. The picture really doesn't do it justice, as it is packed FULL of glitter, and I really emphasise on the full part as it's just crazy levels of glitter. I snatched one up straight away because I just had to bathe in all the glory, but it's definitely a plus that it's super moisturising with olive oil and cocoa butter in and a fabulously luxurious toffee fragrance.

Lush Cardiff Shampoo Bars

Before I went, I had spent the day browsing through the website, looking at things that I really wanted to find out more about and possibly even try, and one of these things was a shampoo bar. I've seen a few blog posts about these dotted around and always thought that it was a bit of a weird concept that I didn't want to try, but after actually taking the time to read one such post I found that it was really positive about them, and so I decided to take the plunge.

Stuck between three different ones, I eventually went for Honey I Washed My Hair, as it has a very similar fragrance to one of my all time faves (the Soft Coeur massage bar), and I just couldn't resist it's sweetness!

Lush Cardiff Cosmetics Range

One of the things I was possibly more intrigued was the makeup and fragrance section in there, as this is one of the parts of Lush that I have never really dared to enter into before. Although I didn't purchase anything, they have some amazingly pigmented and beautiful lip colours (particularly a fabulous blue-toned pink that I forgot the name of - sorry!) so definitely give them a lookout! However, the Gorilla perfumes - and I hate to say this - were not my cup of tea at all. They were all quite heady and musky fragrances, and I love a good sweet smell, but that's just personal preference and I'm sure that they're divine to the right person!

[Honey I Washed the Kids Shampoo Bar, Porridge Soap, Hoppity Poppity Bath Bomb, Golden Egg Bath Melt, Shampoo Bar Tin, American Cream Hair Conditioner, Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb]

Now as I was expecting too, I splurged a little, but it only cost me around £25 which isn't too bad for a Lush haul! From the easter range I picked up two bath bombs (the Fluffy Egg that smells of candyfloss, and Hoppity Poppity which has popping candy in!) along with a bath melt - the Golden Egg of course! Whilst the rest was made up of a few things I'd wanted for a while: the Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo bar and a Round Tin (which is a little too small for the bar at the moment), the American Cream Conditioner to go with, and Porridge Soap which is supposed to be very soft and kind to your skin.

[*Gifted to me by @LushCardiff, the Golden Egg Bath Melt (not pictured), The Secret Garden Bath Bomb, and the Yummy Mummy Shower Gel]

One of the best surprises though was that we got a goodie bag with some lovely treats in it! Along with the book , we got another Golden Egg* (sod's law, but 2 fabby baths coming up right?!), a Secret Garden bath bomb* which has a very rosey fragrance, and some Yummy Mummy* shower gel which also has a lovely yet somewhat lighter floral smell, and a hint of shimmer in it too (both from the Mothers Day Collection). So all in all, a fantastic night with some fantastic goodies. Despite the soggy weather outside with Cardiff being typical Wales, there was smiles all round!

Have any of you used these products? I'd love to hear what you think!
A special thanks to all the ladies at Lush Cardiff for hosting! You can catch them at @LushCardiff on Instagram and Twitter to keep up with their products and days in the shop!

Keep a lookout for any reviews in the near future, I can't wait to try it all out!

The Versatile Blogger Award ¦ Alice Phillips

One of the things I find so amazing about blogging is the recognition that people give to other blogs about their progress and successes, and one of the ways in which they do this is through nominating each other for the awards that get passed around the blogosphere.

I was lucky enough to be nominated for the Liebster Award a few weeks back, and I was re-nominated (if that's a word?!) yesterday by Beth at lasheslinerlove which was really great, so thankyou! However as I've already done a post for the Liebster award, I'm going to focus on something else!
I'm really chuffed to have also been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by Penny at Polka Dot Penny, and so thankful. These things really let you know that there are people out there who read your stuff, and it's also a fabulous opportunity to have a look at new and interesting blogs which you may want to follow!

The rules of the Versatile Blogger Award are as follows:
1) Thank the person who so kindly nominated you for the award, and also post a link to their blog
2) Tell 7 facts about yourself
3) Select 15 bloggers that you've recently discovered, or that you follow regularly
4) Nominate them for the award and let them know via a blog comment (or social media)

So, the 7 facts about myself:
1) It was my 21st birthday yesterday, which means I pretty much qualify for everything now bar an over 50's price plan
2) I've actually been to university twice, although the first time I chose to leave after just two months, and it's also one of the best things I ever did
3) I write all of the important things that I need to remember on a small whiteboard, and this makes me feel a little bit like a school teacher (it was always fun playing schools when you were younger right? the nostalgia never goes...)
4) I used to have cherry red hair a few years ago, it was AMAZING but I just can't imagine myself with it now
5) I never get 'that friday feeling', working in retail has just ruined the weekend for me forever!
6) Practically all of my shoes are black - boots, pumps, trainers and heels. You name it, there's a black pair. I'm so unadventurous with footwear
7) My favourite thing about blogging is the comments that people leave. Those emails are the only ones that I don't instantly delete, and I find it so encouraging and rewarding that people take the time to read my posts and also let me know about it!

My nominees are:
Nicole at nicolemmorgan
Aisling at aislingsbeautybytes
Kadee at hello-harper
Ania at Beauty Obsessed
Jodie at jodielouisebrinkley
Linda at lindatargaryen
Sian at tilchapterthree

Kirsty at kirstyabbott
Helen at beeslifestyleblog
Lucy at lucyslifeandbeautyblog
Rhiannon at rhiannontalksfashion
Lizzie at lizzieroseblogger
Chinella at lalachicuk

I LOVE these things and would greatly encourage you all to do them! Not only do they allow you to get more acknowledgement for your own blog, but also help you discover others that you may just get hooked on following!
